Cameron Twynham has been confirmed as a BRDC Rising Star for a second year ahead of his Porsche Supercup campaign with MOMO-Megatron-Partrax.
The 19-year-old’s hopes of a strong start in his rookie year behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup have been boosted by the continued support from the prestigious club as he makes the move from single-seaters to GT machinery.
As a BRDC Rising Star, Cameron once again joins an elite group of up-and-coming racing drivers aged 24-and-under that have been scouted by the renowned Silverstone-based club.
What’s more, Twynham has also retained the backing of his other existing partners MRE, High5 Sports Nutrition and Anxiety UK. Indeed, Cameron lends his support to the charity and continues to raise awareness of anxiety in young people following his own previous experience of the condition.
“I’m delighted to be counted as one of the Rising Stars for another year,” said Twynham. “Not only does the BRDC name carry weight for a young driver like me, but it also offers some fantastic networking opportunities that have already allowed me to build my career.
“Making the move to the Porsche Supercup will be a real step up from what I’ve done previously but I think we can really make a go of it this year.”
The Market Harborough teenager had his first experience of the new car at Hockenheim last week during a pre-season test with the MOMO-Megatron-Partrax squad.
“I know it’s going to be tough this season after testing alongside guys who have been doing Porsche Supercup for a number of years now,” he admitted. “But I was able to put in some pretty competitive lap times and now have a good idea of where I need to be. I can’t wait to be back in the car for the first round in Barcelona!
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my sponsors and the BRDC for their continued support and hope we can get some good results together in 2015.”
Cameron’s Porsche Supercup campaign kicks off on May 9/10 at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
