Drivex is delighted to announce their participation in the new Formula 4 Spain, a championship recently launched and taking place in the Iberian Peninsula throughout 2016. Spain´s squad founded by Miguel Ángel de Castro and Pedro Martínez de la Rosa has decided to join the Formula 4 Spain as it´s the right platform for drivers coming from karting.
Drivex has been successful in many branches of motorsport, including Formula 3. In the latter series Drivex claimed Euroformula F3 Open title in Copa class with Richard Gonda in 2013 and two vice-championships achieved by Celso Míguez and Aarón Filgueira in 2009 and 2010 respectively. Now, Drivex takes up a new challenge in Formula 4 racing, which provides an excellent platform for young drivers who aim at taking their next stop in motorsport. Drivex plans to enter a maximum of four Tatuus-Abarth cars in the Formula 4 Spain. At the same time, young Spaniard Arturo Melgar has been already confirmed as driver by Drivex. Besides, there are ongoing conversations with other Spanish and foreign drivers. Drivex offer a broad spectrum of training services for young drivers as, in addition to new F4 racing programme, there are a Dallara F308 with paddle-shift and a latest generation simulator available. Last but not least, Drivex returns to the Formula 3 motorsport scene this season in the Euroformula Open.
There are seven rounds scheduled with an eighth one not counting towards the championship. The series will visit Navarra (21-22 May), Motorland (25-26 June), Estoril (16-17 July), Jerez (17-18 September), Valencia (24-25 September), Barcelona (1-2 October) and Jarama (15-16 October). The extra round, at the end of October, will be held at another race track to be announced.
Miguel Ángel de Castro: “I´m glad to confirm Drivex will enter the Formula 4 Spain this season. To be honest, Formula 4 is an essential rung on the ladder and now Drivex increases its motorsport offer. We have closely worked with young drivers at the wheel of our Formula 3 cars and our simulator but now we add a basic category for young guns. It´s a pleasure to confirm Arturo Melgar will join us in the Formula 4 Spain. Arturo and Drivex have worked together for a long time and now he moves a step forward. We are in talks with other drivers who could join our lineup. I hope to announce some novelties shortly.”
