SV Racing’s James Dorlin is aiming to consolidate his Junior Saloon Car Championship lead with two more race wins when the series resumes at Anglesey Circuit this weekend (26-27 April). 

The JSCC was derived to bridge the gap between Karting and car racing for drivers aged 14-17 and the 2014 calendar consists of 14 races at seven of the UK’s most famous motor racing circuits, with Anglesey Circuit the host venue for Rounds 3 and 4 of the championship.

Anglesey’s International GP Circuit runs for 2.1miles along the Welsh island’s Irish Sea coast and has a creative blend of fast, medium and slow corners, as well as some interesting elevation changes and cambers that test the mettle of even the most capable of drivers.

Dorlin stepped on to the first rung of SVR’s ‘stairway of talent’ in the JSCC earlier this year and has been receiving guidance from former Clio Cup Champion and British Touring Car racer, Danny Buxton, while Howard Hunt deals with his on-track coaching.

The young Barnsley racer proved to be the class of the JSCC field in the opening round of the 2014 season at Rockingham Motor Speedway three weeks ago, setting the pace in free practice and grabbing pole position for both races by a sizeable margin, before dashing to a brace of untroubled race wins.

This was followed by a test at Anglesey, during which Dorlin reacquainted himself with the picturesque circuit and attempted to find lap time with the intention of bettering the second place he achieved on his previous visit to the Welsh track in 2013.          

“I’m feeling very excited and quite confident about my prospects for the Anglesey weekend,” said Dorlin. “At Rockingham, I had some great results that gave me confidence because, while I expected to do fairly well, I never thought I’d win in the way I did. Nevertheless, I have to keep my head down and stay calm to maintain my focus.

“When I raced at Anglesey last year, I came second, so I know the track fairly well. The JSCC will run on a slightly different layout this time – the longer International Circuit – so it will be more of a challenge. I mainly spent the recent test learning the new sections of track and I’m definitely aiming for race wins again. I want to be as dominant as I can early in the season so it stands me in good stead for later in the year.”

SV Racing Director, Danny Buxton, said: “James (Dorlin) had a decent test at Anglesey last week to familiarise himself with the circuit after a year away. He reacclimatised well and went on to record some very decent lap times towards the end of the day. After his performance at Rockingham, he’s undoubtedly the benchmark for everybody else to beat. He set the bar high last time out and can’t expect anything less than two race victories to consolidate his championship points.”
